For many years the USA has dominated the private jet market. Firstly North America is the most powerful economy currently in the world. It has held this title since the end of the second world war when commercial and eventually private jets began to be mass produced. Furthermore America is the third biggest country in the world meaning that business relations between different states were aided hugely by the use of private jets. These two factors combined leads to North America having one of the highest consumption of private air crafts in the world. However this is currently being over taken by the new high demand for private jets in Europe.
The European Union is a group of counties in Europe all sharing the same economic values and many sharing the same currency, the Euro. Due to the European union laws workers within the European Union are allowed to work within any country within the European Union without the initial restrictions that working abroad would normally pose. As a result many international relationships have been formed, meaning that workers may have to travel abroad many times in one working year. Thus there has been a rise in the use of private jet charter services in Europe in the past twenty years.
Unlike the USA there are certain barriers concerned with booking a private jet in Europe. On the one hand while countries in the optimal currency area use Euros, there are many developed countries that do not. For example in England, one of the richest and most prosperous countries in Europe, use their own currency of the British pound. Also counties new to the European Union such as Poland have not yet changed to the Euro. As a result the problem and expense of currency conversion becomes an issue. Another problem that Europe faces in using private jet charter Europe is the language barrier. In the USA English is the only official language used , whereas in Europe there is 23 official languages spoken alone, not even including the unofficial languages such as Croatian or Hungarian. Although the number of spoken languages is astounding it is recorded that 51% of people in the European union can understand English. Those who are highly educated will, in general, have a good understanding of English and therefore in Business English in the language most commonly used. As a result private jet charter services are often conducted in English, with English being the first language offered on their websites. Despite these initial barriers the use of Private Jet charter continues to rise in Europe.
Although business users are undoubtedly a huge proportion of private jet users in Europe. The rise of the developed European economy has lead to many European business tycoons and celebrities using private jets for their own personal use. Many of the world's most favourite musicians are British. Any world class musician will own his or her private jet to allow travel with ease therefore the proportion of private jet charter for personal use has been steeply rising. In addition to this a high proportion of the world's rich list is European. It is highly likely that each of these billionaires owns at least two private jets leasing to the amount of Private jets in Europe to steadily increase.
To conclude, as the the European Union is the world’s largest combined business economy, there is a strong need for communication between these countries. A private Jet charter provides these businesses with a convenient and efficient way of allowing these cross-country business relationships to thrive.
